Jun Chen

Jun Chen is a visiting PhD student from China University of Mining and Technology. He got his Bachelor's in Urban Underground Space in 2018. His main research interests are mechanical properties of real lunar regolith and its in-situ resource utilization. In the past four years, he has worked with his Chinese mentor to develop the comprehensive simulation system for the lunar surface environment, including high vacuum and extreme temperature environment subsystem, as well as a low gravity environment subsystem based on superconducting magnets. He has participated in development of CUMT-1 lunar regolith simulant and studied its mechanical properties in 1/6 g gravity environment. Moreover, he has conducted research on the development and geotechnical test of lunar regolith simulant, quantification and reconstruction of particle morphology and fabric analysis. Now he has expanded his research interest in the development of lunar geopolymer materials at the lunar surface environment conditions.
