We are always looking for motivated and excellent candidates to apply for external funding such as Marie Sklodowska Curie postdoctoral fellowship, FWO senior/junior postdoctoral fellowship, etc. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Vandeginste with your CV and list of publications to discuss the potential project.
Currently, we invite outstanding candidates who would like to apply for an FWO Junior or Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship with us. The application deadline with FWO is 16 November 2026, but you should contact us with at least a 3-page research proposal (or full proposal using the FWO template) by 16 October 2026. Note that we can support maximum five candidates with their application, based on the new FWO regulations. Our research focuses on controlling reactive interfaces to engineer sustainable functional materials in the following domains:
Carbon management, in particular CO2 capture and utilization
CO2 electrochemical systems
Stimuli-responsive coatings
Circular resources, in particular recovery of battery-related metal resources
Zinc-based batteries and hybrid capacitors
Currently, we have a PhD position available within the MSCA Doctoral Network on Zinc Energy Storage Technology. The focus of this PhD position is on the Development of novel interfacial strategies for high-performing electrodes in sustainable commercial zinc-ion batteries. More information on the position and on how to apply can be found on the ZEST website and recruitment platform:
Deadline for application registration is 27 November 2026.
In addition, we are always looking for motivated and excellent candidates to apply for external funding such as FWO doctoral fellowship. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Vandeginste with your CV and a letter of motivation to discuss the potential project.
If you are a PhD researcher at another university and interested in a research visit to our group, then have a look at the interesting KU Leuven Mobility fellowships and contact Prof. Vandeginste with your CV and a letter of motivation to discuss the potential project.
If you are interested to conduct your Master thesis project or a research internship in our group, please contact Prof. Vandeginste with your CV.
We welcome collaborations with academic, industrial and societal partners working on sustainable and functional materials and interfacial engineering.
