Jiayi Liu

Jiayi has been pursuing his PhD at Northeastern University since September 2022 and will undertake joint training in the Surface and Interface Engineered Materials (SIEM) group at KU Leuven from November 2026 to November 2027. Prior to this, he earned a B.E. degree in Inorganic Non metallic Materials Engineering from University of South China and a M.S. degree in Materials Engineering from Shenyang Ligong University. During his master’s studies, Jiayi focused on the preparation of nesquehonite crystals with diverse morphologies. His current research centers on the rapid synthesis of anhydrous magnesium carbonate from magnesium bearing minerals and its functionalization for advanced applications.
